This Was Never Meant for Us

We are miracles: living, breathing beings gifted with the experience of a breathtaking world. We were meant to tread lightly upon this earth, living in a sacred unison with the land and the animals. Yet, we have drifted far from our true nature.

Was it for this that we were born: to wither under fluorescent lights, tethered to a desk, enduring the cruelty of others just to afford the bare necessities of survival? This is not our destiny.

It is time to reclaim our humanity. We must learn to contribute to society in a way that is equitable, sustainable, and kind. We must accept the truth that our existence is only sustainable if we care for the earth and for one another. To find our way back, we must look to those who withstood the oppressors and cherished their ancestral traditions. These are the leaders who can guide us home.

By centering Indigenous worldviews and land stewardship, we find the only viable map for surviving the climate crisis. Through them, we can learn to build an egalitarian society rooted in communal leadership, restorative justice, and a spiritual connection to the land: a peace that no colonial labor has ever been able to provide.

We are stardust
We are golden
And we've got to get ourselves
Back to the garden.
